Drainage

For those of you who set up a drainage system for your cages, do you deal the plastic piece at the bottom with silicone to keep water from leaving the cage, and going into the drains you made? Or how do you guys prevent water from going out of the sides since there is a tiny gap. Any help would be appreciated

A lot of people will drill many small holes in the bottom and place a heavy pot in the middle to create a "bow". The water will flow towards the middle and drain from there.

So no sealing the plastic? I have a train built into the middle of the cage with a PVC pipe running down into a 2 gallon bucket. It works very well but sometimes a little bit of water gets out

Do you have the bottom that's removable? If you do and you seal it, well, you get the drift...

I have a similar system. I just have a couple small holed drilled in the center, and then my pots make it sag so the water just runs to the holes in the middle. The cage then sits on a little corner table with the glass center removed and a bucket underneath.

Well yeah it's removable haha but, if I sealed it, it would save the water issue!! But hey you make a good point

i just replaced the bottoms of my chameleon enclosures with screen and placed them over a tub. and that works out great. it's really easy to clean havn't had any problems.

You should not keep trains with chameleons.

If they are electric trains, the train could get damaged, and the chameleon may get electrocuted.

If it is a smoker, the exhaust will harm the chameleons lungs.





Yes, I have sealed the edges of some cages, and it does resolve the issue youre having. I sealed them from the bottom.

Lol well my Cham loves riding trains lol jk i mean plastic drain*** but it works quite well. I'm in the process of setting up a second cage for my baby that I'm getting any day now! I can't wait I also bought some shower curtains to attach to the left side and back of my Jackson's cage to hold in humidity and probably the excess water. I will also be doing this for my panther.

Yeah it's cheaper in my opinion but whatever works best for you. And if you wanna put a plant on it and are afraid it might rip through you can always screw some plexi glass like material under it and screw holes in it. I did that with one of my enclosure
