As I've just started my Cham on them and she loves them and they last longer than the live food.

no canned bugs!!!!!!!!
most chams wont eat dead bugs.
they arent very nutritrious.
they have a preserve and crap in them, whcih is what makes them 'wet' and jelly feeling.
they say they have been gutloaded, btu what with?
and if you are having issues keeping your live bugs alive, we can help with that.
tell us what you have been doing with the live bugs.
what are you keeping them in?
what are you feeding them?
what age are they when you buy them?
are you putting any egg cartons in with them?
are you cleaning the cage?

Glad to hear, but regardless whether or not she likes the canned crix it is very important to feed live crickets or dubias that are gutloaded properly. This ensures your cham is getting a good and healthy diet.

They are in a tin with a ring pull cano crickets they are called they are not wet or slimy they are waxy and the nutrients are stated on the can they are the same as live food I still dip them in the calcium powder

Regardles the texture of said crickets, they are just not good enough nutritionally. Gutloading live crickets is VERY important.

Edit: please list said nutritional facts.

Im not asking abotu your cham.
Im asking about your bugs.
canned bugs shouldnt be fed.
if you cant keep the bugs alive, id like to help you with that. live bugs should be the ONLY bugs your chameleon eats.

I have only started feeding her these can o crickets in last few days I still buy wax worms for her to eat dipped in calcium and I will carry on feeding her live crickets just wanted to try out the canned ones Also she has stated munching on the ficus benjimana plant leaves as I prefer the live plants

Please dont feed her the canned bugs anymore.
and waxworms are treats, not a daily food.
if you would like a daily worm to feed, silkworms, and pheonix/calci worms are great.

Hello & welcome. You have me confused. What is a 1/12 female cham? Is it 12 months old, or 1 month old? Also what kind of chameleon do you have? If it is a 12 month old female then we can tell you all about egg laying unless you already know that stuff. What kind of dripper are you using? Some people buy the "little dripper" that they sell at stores. I am a bit easier, I use a gallon milk jug with a small pin hole in it.
So you are using canned crickets? I see people are already giving you crap. Sorry it is just that several here have tried them and long term they are bad for your cham. Ugh, I hate live crickets but canned are even worse. I use live crickets only because they are the best nutrition for our chams. Don't believe that stuff about canned being healthy - it just isn't true. If you live in England you can get locust as a staple feeder. I wish we could get them here. Some other good feeders are silkworms, butter worms, and goliath worms - but goliath grow really fast. Don't be offended by all of us trying to help, we all love our chams and try to keep every cham we know healthy.
Where are you? you don't have to tell me. I just like to know about people. Every so often someone will do a thread about who is behind the name. I will tell about me - but never pictures!! If you want to know about us, you can click on the persons name and some of us tell about out selves. I do.
Oh before I forget, it you look a threads you will see tons of pictures, we love pictures. just to get you started here is a link to some of my kids. Again welcome.

can I ask how long you have owned your chameleon? You say it is in tip top condition and I have not seen her yet but I am assuming you just got her and she came to you healthy and THAT is why she is in tip top condition, not because you are feeding her canned crickets. Please listen to the what the others have told you and get some live crickets and feed those with some good fresh fuits and vegetables. She may seem tip top now, but what you feed your chamelon contributes so much to their health. Things may look good now, but improper care and feeding witll certainly take its toll later. Edit: I see you have had her 4 months?? please post some pics of her or how do you view your youtube?

Here's a link to here YouTube page:

There are multiple videos of the chameleon. Based on upload dates, she has had it since at least October (very possibly more, that's just the earliest video).

Nicole, hi! Your chameleon is quite lovely (and your dogs are freaking amazing! I want a Neapolitan Mastiff!). I think the concern here with the canned bugs is that for chameleons, the gutloading is considered as important as the actual insect body. I don't think that's true of all reptiles.

However, I'm going to say I think it is fabulous that she will eat the canned crickets and, as long as you are mostly giving her gutloaded live insects, occasional canned crickets won't harm her. Plus, should you ever get in a difficult situation--no live food available, it happens--you'll at least be able to give her something until you can get live food.

I would consider them more "emergency back up food" than a staple feeder, but in order to know for sure she'll eat them, you do have to feed them to her from time to time.

Wow since the link to your vid was posted I got to see your cham. I love the patterns, your cham is beautiful, and unusual. That cham is a keeper for sure.
