Dubia beginner question

O.k.

I have pretty much decided to take the dubia plunge and stop using crix as my staple. I was wondering "how" I should order them. What I mean is, what quantities and of what type. If I am feeding them off as well as starting a small colony, I want to make sure I order the correct size and number of roaches. Any suggestions? Also, will cricket gutload (from cricketfood.com) work with these buggers?

I'd start off with a mixed order (make sure there are a few adults in there) of 75-100 if you're feeding one cham.

I use a dry cricket chow and collard greens to gutload.

I use old potatoes, carrots, throw away fridge veggies and fruits, and dogfood to feed the colony that aren't being fed off right away.

I quarantine the feeders as they're being gutloaded.

Best choice I ever made! Good luck!

Make sure you have a heating pad under or on the enclosure to stimulate breeding and from my experience they breed more in dark enviroment so drape a dark sheet blanket over their cage during the day. And soon you will have numbers!

I never tried to too much with roaches, but 90 Degrees is a good breeding temp as I was advised by Dave Weldon
