Dubia for Spectrals.

Has anyone else observed that their Rh. Spectrum really take to dubia? I will throw in a few crickets and will have to sit and wait if I want to see them get eaten, even mantids, moths, and P.nivea are overlooked unless they are a last resort. Mine, especially my male, will eat them right infront of me, as soon as they see me remove my hand from the enclosure there is no hesitation to eat them. My R. brevicaudatus overlook dubia but it seems my Spectrals really take to them. Just my observation.

I never tried them with mine (when I had them). Hhhhmmm. Very good observation, though.

I have no doubt that they would go for them. I am afraid of feeding roaches to any chameleon I cannot cup or hand feed (for obvious reasons:eek:).
I'll have to figure out a way I could keep the nymphs contained.

I dont really have to worry about that, I just wait until they get eaten, so I am sure that they aren't running around the enclosure.

But they bury themselves so fast!
I'll figure it out .. I have a huge B.dubia colony that I should be utilizing more.

I feel your pain! I've been feeding all my chams extra dubia lately since I hardly touch my colony. It helps if you suspend the dubia on a leaf or thin branch, thats the only way I can feed them off without them dropping and burying themselves.

Spike has gotten so he prefers the dubias over crickets im unsure what it is maybe that there just easier to catch or they just plain taste better :p Thats why i breed the dubias

Brad, try using one of those chinese tuppaware containers. Nice size, and VERY shallow, but not too shallow so the dubia can climb on one another and get out.

I wish I could figure out how to get them to wiggle more, leaving them upside down, they tend to just stay like that... lol... play dead or not to play dead.....

We have had good luck with the F. Lateralis cup feeding them Dubias, but that maybe due to them being voracious eaters. It helps that the dubias have such a hard time climbing.
