Dubia roaches, gutload?

So Molly got a shipment of Dubias in today, I gave them green lettuce (not iceberg), an apple, and carrots. I was wondering, I have some flukers orange cube complete cricket diet and I was wondering if I could give some to them also. They are made with: Water, carageenan, soya protein, dried brewers yeast, dried kelp, calcium carbonate, potassium sorbate, ascorbic acid, and citric acid. Any opinions?

I had some of that lying around also. I gave it my dubias and they really didnt eat any of it so i just pulled it out after a few days. Maybe yours will eat it. Mine love romaine and apples. I need some oatmeal, And bee pollen. I hear thats good dry gutload ingredients.

I would not use cat food. I feed with collard greens, butternut squash, banana, apple, orange, carrot and sweet potato.

I gut load with wilderness brand catfood

Yes if anything I would use dog food but only a little mixed with fresh fruits and veggies. Cat food is extremely high in protein and fat and can cause gout, kidney problems, and obesity. Thank you for the suggestions everyone. I will put one piece in to see if they eat it, I don't believe it would hurt since it is for cricket gutload anyway.

I read somewhere that to start a dubia colony its good to use catfood for dry and veggies and fruite for wet. As long as you don't feed them to your cham is that correct?

If you are not feeding any of them to a cham possibly. Cat food is very high in protein and if roaches do well with a lot of protein that could very well be true.

I would just make sure it is a good cat food, check the ingredients and guaranteed analysis.

I wouldn't use any kind of cat/dog food. Too much animal protein. Try bee pollen and ground nuts if you need protein for your roaches.

Kara,
What kind of nuts? Almonds, are good right. Where do you get bee pollen? I looked at the groc store. Do I have to go to a health food store?
I was thinking of blending up the following and freezing into daily portions for crix & dubias.
Bee pollen, oatmeal, strawberries, greens/mustard prob, almonds, carrots, & some all nat honey to gice it a little sweetness. Does that sound ok?
