Dubia starter colony??

We lost 5 of the 7 pets we had in a house fire almost 2 years ago, Hank my Panther chameleon was one we lost, it's been a long journey back but we are in our newly rebuilt home and have started to replace our pets our beardy made it through the fire.... ironically the start of the fire was believed to be a reptile heating mat that we used to heat our dubia roach colony....so be CAREFUL PLEASE..... we currently have the beardy and a frilled dragon and I am looking to get back to work on a custom enclosure I had started for hank for a future chameleon.....the main reason for my long post is to make u all aware and to see if anyone is willing to sell us a starter dubia colony for our current lizards....ty

I don't have any pictures (i can get some)but I went to target to get a tupperware container with a top. I cut a rectangle in the top and screwed in/gorilla taped screen on both sides. I started with 50 roaches and I'm about to get 50 more. Usually want to start with 100 adults. Warning you, it takes forever. I'm like pretty sure they breed at room temp. You also want egg crates, food/water. I was fortunate enough to get screen and egg crates for free. If you would like, I can send both to you in the mail.

Ive had a full on colony before, bought like 100 from someone on here just trying to find someone with mass quantities willing to help me get started again

I bought 12 males and 4 females, as well as 25 3/4" nymphs. After about 2 months, my colony has grown to about 30 adults and countless babies. I kept them in super high temps (I basically used a sauna as my roach room, and the colony has both a space heater and a heating pad), and they have done really well.

If you mount your Uth on the bottom make sure there is plenty of air flow. I never mount mine on the bottom though. I only ever mount mine on the side with duct tape and attached to a thermostat a bit pricier in the beginning but well worth it in the long run ^^

I had mine around the sides hooked to a thermostat and it still shorted out and caused my house fire......I know exactly how to start and make a colony.....had thousands of dubias before fire.....looking for someone on here willing to part with a bunch at a reasonable price

Look in the classifieds, it depends on what a bunch is and what you consider a reasonable a price

I'm sorry for your loss (even though it was a couple years ago), that is really hard. I've not experienced a fire myself, but have family that have. Extra tough losing a pet that way. It sounds like you might have a connection. I was going to suggest Craigslist, as another option. Good luck!

Where are you located? I've got plenty of dubias of all sizes to sell, but I'm just a hobbyist. Never tried shipping, and not really interested in getting into it.
