Does anyone know of any other places to buy adults (to start a colony) other than blapticadubia.com? I missed the cut-off shipping time for this week and hate to wait since I am all set up.

I am in Phoenix, AZ.

Thanks

Jim

Jim,
You might have a hard time getting roaches shipped to you at all. As I understand it (and is my protocol), it is illegal to ship roaches into Florida and Arizona.

Actually,

I was wondering if someone could confirm this fact. I had thought this to be so, but cannot find anything to substantiate this point.

I am also in Phoenix and was gonna order some roaches myself, i was going to look into seeing if they can be shipped to AZ, but have failed to do so. If you find a local carrier Jim, please let me know.

In FL it is illegal to ship in non-native roaches.

I never found out if Dubia are part of that or not because I gave up on raising roaches (I went with silk worms instead to appease the girlfriend who didn't fall for "papaya flower beetles")

I ordered from Blapticadubia.com yesterday and I should receive Thurs or Fri.
I know of two local stores that offer Dubias:
Pets Inc @ Southern & Mill (Tempe)
AZ Reptile @ Dobson & Broadway (Mesa)

Pets Inc will only sell nymphs a dozen for $2 (Limit 3-4 doz until their colony gets bigger)
AZ sells them $1 a piece

So, if I just needed feeders than Pets Inc is a good price. But, I want to raise them so I went with the online order.

Maybe someday if my colony gets big enough I will have extra for the local cham owners on this board!:D

By the way: Is there a rule of thumb on how many to feed? So far I feed everything loose and let the chams hunt for them so I do not know how much is eaten at one time.

you are probably gonna wanna cup feed roaches. they can be much better at hiding then crickets and this could cause problems in short and long run.

Thanks for the info Jim. i might go to that pets inc this weekend.

Ive only fed a few roaches, trying to let my colony grow. But the ones I did feed would crawl far up the cage and made easy eating for my chams. Originally I just threw them on the bottom after dusting
