Dusting Methods

Today i was dusting my feeders in a plastic 1/2 gallon juice container, got them all covered, and then i was fishing them out to put in the Chams feeding containers in the cage, and it hit me-There must be a better way... I've got little ghost like crickets jumping off my hands to the (once) dark brown carpet, and I look like I'm trying to learn how to apply makeup. What do you do to minimize crushing the feeders by grabbing them, and not have calcium powder all over yourself and inside the cages? I am picturing a strainer to get the excess powder out the container???

i found that a sifter works really well, i just dump them into a sifter it cleans well, and saves you lotsa powder..

Somthing like this, but at grocery stores / walmart they have handhelp ones, that are made of wire, so the crickets will definatly not fall through

That sifter is a good idea. I usually use small zip locks, those half size sammi bags work well.

I forgot to mention, cut a small hole in one of the bottom corners of the bag. Pinch it shut or just hole that side up, unzip half the bag, crix in. Zip up and shake, then hold the bag slightly tilded hole down. The crix usually walk right out and the powder stays in.

Very nice, ive never tried that.

I just used / use tjhe sifter cause we had it and never used it cause its hard to clean ROFL

Plus my bro kept using it for noodles, and got it all caught in it - EWW

Then i just washed it, and it works perfectly..

I just throw the crickets in a cup sprinkle some on and shake'm up a bit. Works fine for me. After I feed them off I rinse the cup.

This is what I do also. For escapees I put a plastic cup over then then slide a postcard or piece of cardboard under the cup and the cricket is now in the cup. You can put the cricket wherever you wish!
