Early stages of MBD-new owner

This is my first time caring for a chameleon I've had him for 2 months. He has these markings and I think it's MBD. He eats 5 medium crickets that I sprinkle with calcium. I feed the crickets first than feed them to him. I have a small bowl of meal worms for his snacking. Photo is attached. Any advice?

I don't have experience with MBD, but from a husbandry standpoint, the cage looks far too small. Is it a glass tank? They should be in a screened enclosure that's taller than it is wide, 18x18x36 at a minimum. Also, the substrate should be taken out. They could ingest it and it could cause impactions. They also need a lot of vines and branches places to climb upwards and plants for foliage to hide in.

Is the calcium with or without D3? They should have calcium WITHOUT D3 every feeding and calcium WITH D3 twice a month. I will leave the MBD talk to the experts. Good luck!

Welcome to the forums. I am sad to say that your chameleon does have MBD. I recommend getting him to the vets for some liquid calcium and the vet can give an injection to draw the calcium into the bones. You will need to get your husbandry corrected ASAP to get this little guy healthy. Also at his size he should be eating 12 to 15 appropriate size feeders a day. The feeders need to be gutloaded and lightly dusted with calcium without D3 everyday and calcium with D3 and a multiply vitamin twice a month. He also need a UVB light.
