Eating Dirt??

I've caught my chameleon eating dirt, why is that?

My veiled chameleon used to shoot his toungue at the soil for his ficus. He might be doing for extra roughage or he is trying to get minerals from the soil. Try the next time you feed coating the crickets or whatever use use with a vitamin supplement.

That most likely means that he's lacking vitamins

It would rather mean that he´s lacking not only vitamins but also minerals.

it also means you need to be covering your dirt with large river rocks to stop him from doing that.
