Eating Problems

Hi! I’m new to this website and new to owning a chameleon (just got her july 5th 2024) so if my post seems off at all that might be why.

My veiled chameleon Ringo hasn’t had this problem before but it’s started pretty recently. Whenever she is hunting crickets or trying to eat anything, her tongue isn’t sticky enough to grab her food and when she does catch her food, she has a hard time chewing it and it usually falls out of her mouth with a lot of saliva attached to it. I don’t know why this is happening but I really hope someone can help me help her.

Hi there and welcome! Since you are new to chameleons, I would recommend getting a full husbandry review. Many problems with our little tree dragons stem from improper husbandry. With that being said, we all have to start somewhere, and you came to the right place. Please fill out (you can copy and paste) the husbandry questions as detailed as possible. Please also include pictures of your chameleon as well as the entire cage from the lights down.
