I just got my veiled cham tuesday. and the first day he ate 3 crickets, and yesterday he ate 5-6 crickets, i leave a feeder cup inside his cage while im away and im not sure if the crickets r jumping out and if he is eating them. I'm wondering if him eating so little will cause much problems or if its just because he is getting use to a new area.. any suggestion of whats going on??

also FYI i knew he's eating the crickets that i said before because i hand feed them to him. I've seen him eat a crickets outa the cup once. But im not sure if he has gone back since. since im not home all day to see this.

How old is he im assuming he is young. You still should be good though if hes getin at least a couple a day while hes is adjusting. It only gets scary when they refuse all food four more than a week on end.

How old is your chameleon and how large are the crickets you're feeding him? 5-6 crickets a day sounds fine to me. He's probably eating more out of the feeding cup.

It depends on your feeding cup setup of course, but crickets TEND to not escape from them. If you put them in a container they can't crawl out of, they're basically too stupid to realize they could probably jump out. Sometimes I'll get a few escapees if my chameleon grabs one cricket, a couple others will get startled and sometimes jump out. Most of the time not, though.

Just keep track of how many crickets are in his cup, and count how many are left when you get home.

Make sure you supplement him. It's really important for a young veiled, even more than some other chameleon breeds.

To me it sounds like he's doing just fine.

he's about 2-3 months old and teh crickets are 1/4 of an inch. yes i have all the supplement on the crickets i mixed them in a bowl then drop teh crickets inside and eh crickets cover themselves in teh supplement. then i move teh crickets over into the feeding cup.

Sounds like he's doing fine to me. By the time he's 6-8 months old you'll be horrified at the amount of crickets he's capable of going through. :)

If he is eating all the crickets that you put in the cup, try increasing the amount you put in until there are 1 to 2 leftovers. Baby chams can eat like pigs :)

i have a colslaw tub its quite big and only the big ones can escape by jumping.i have also got a baby vieled he is now a bit older he is 4-5 months old when he was 2-3 months he had just ajjusted and now he's eating 5-6 crickets a day but while he's shedding he eats 2-3 crickets.sometimes i get him locust he eats about 10 of them a day he loves them mabye you should try them.

i put bout 5-9 in the feeder cup, and i can usualy hand feed him 2-4 and he eats those. i've just put in bout 10 or so crickets in his feeder cup.
