So now that it's too cold to open the windows for real sunlight, I just bought this "solar-glo" 160w mercury vapor lamp to give UV and basking heat to my chams in my sun-room free-range indoor forest solution.
I have it mounted appropriately (vertical orientation) in a wire cage about 15 inches above the closest basking point. The max temperature readout I was able to get from it so far after a day of operation has been 80 degrees F at that basking area.
Does anyone else have MV lamp experience that can maybe confirm that either this is a typical readout or there's something fishy going on? So far I am not impressed.
