egg incubation

Well now I have my first batch of eggs! I was reading and looking at photos of other panther eggs and the substrate used. I did the thumb print and put the egg in it. so the vermiculite is not touching the sides of eggs I am also going to check the moisture again tomorrow (eggs layed last night) to make sure i did not overdue it. temp and moisture inside container is 74 degrees and 99 percent humity. question should the vermiculite touch the sides of eggs? i heard about candle eggs after a few weeks what is involved there? i am excited and do not want to mess it up!

I make the thumbprints just so the eggs have a dent to sit in so they won't roll around when the container is moved.

I don't pull the vermiculite up around the eggs at all...just set them in the dents.

As for candling...you won't see anything until the eggs are out of diapause and I can't tell you when that will be. I never bother candling chameleon eggs. If they are infertile they will soon go bad.
