Eggs, yipeeee!

My 10 month old female veiled had her 1st clutch on Monday night!

She had been pacing for about 6 days and had been right off food the whole time, but drinking like a fish! I was starting to get a wee bit worried as she only wondered around but never scratched the sand. I managed to manipulate some mirrors into a discreet position so I could check on her without disturbing her and would only spray when she was up in the branches so as not to make her feel spyed upon.

Well on Monday afternoon about 5.30pm she started digging in the moist sand and by 10.30pm she had dug down deep enough that she was totally out of sight, I was surprised at the speed of her digging! I checked back at 3am and she was pulling soil back down the whole (I left the light on over night for her). When I got up to check her at 8am she was just leveling the ground and putting things back to normal which was quite amazing, she climbed up her basking branch shortly after this and was gratefull of a large drink of water.

She never seemed awfully big during pregnancy and this is her first clutch so I thought maybe 20 eggs or so, I was shocked when I dug up the 43 little jelly beans that she had laid, very very proud of her!

She is all back to normal now and munching happily again and her jelly bean babies are tucked up for the next few months in there incubating dishes, I cant wait till next year but I guess I will just have to!

Congratulations! How exciting. Our veiled laid eggs this week, too. Now we're all in for the long haul. But won't it be worth it, to (hopefully) see the little guys hatch. This is our first clutch, so, we're a little nervous about being sure we're doing everything right.

Congratulations!!!!!

Congratulations on the eggs! Very exciting when they pop out but hard to wait for when it comes to hatching! Give your girl lots of her favorite treats to stimulate her appetite to the maximum. That's a nice clutch size :)
