Environment for chameleon

I'm wondering if my chameleon's setup is good for him. It has hanging on one wall one fake evergreen like bush, a fake shrub at the bottom and an artificial vine for him to climb on and bask. At the bottom of his cage is a fake turf that is only about 1 mm thick. The shrub is in some still water he likes to drink from. Should I change anything?

If all your plants are fakes the cage humidity level may be too low. Live plants help stabilize the humidity level as they transpire moisture and the potting soil holds water. Lots of foliage hold misting water droplets too. We could help more with pics.

Here's a pic

He needs way more plants in there and more places to climb. Chameleons like to hide when they're scared/until they feel comfortable you don't want to stress him out by not allowing him to hide from you. Plus it helps with the humidity levels if you get real plants in there.

You can get branches from a backyard and scrub them to remove dirt, bird droppings, flaky rotting bark, etc. Leave solid bark alone. Use a mix of 10 parts hot water to 1 part bleach. Rinse very well and let dry.

For live plants, depending on where you live, look for houseplant stores or garden supplies, or plant nurseries. Most of them should have the usual Ficus, Pothos, or Schefflera for modest prices.

Hey also I'm reading around and it seems Home Depot might be out of stock for ficus if that was what you were hoping for. But again, your local nursery should have a ton of them.

Online shopping might be your best bet then. I'm sure amazon has plants you can buy.
