Yep.....

They got loose....

Oh, I should add, the woman of the house (who hates bugs and with whom I had to fight tooth and nail to get the crickets) does not actually know about the roaches yet.....

Why do I even bother getting out of bed in the morning?

Dang. That happened to me recently. I was cleaning out my roach tank and a few got away, and I found them like 3 days later in random boxes. Scared the hell out of my mom when she saw them. I had to convince her to let me keep them. Those roaches are crafty escape artists.

I had to just about swear on my life that no roaches would ever get loose and never bring home more than 6 at a time just in case...

my wife hates the crickets too but the roaches are just an irrational hatred. The funny thing is my 2 year old daughter thinks the roaches are funny but is terrified of the crickets. She was in the room once when I dropped a fresh bin of about 30 crickets, they went everywhere, the cats all pounced, my daughter was screaming, and I was trying to catch a few for dinner before they were all smashed by cats or under furniture. Pure chaos.

The things we go through to keep our herps happy!

I wish you luck!

I would sprinkle some borax in the corners and or put out some sticky traps and roach bait. It is coming up on summer and they will do quite well until the winter hits and they get too cold so it would be wise to take some precautions before they start breeding in your house.

Unlucky :D. How many are out? Maybe she won't notice?

Good question, its a new colony. Just got them last week. I was keeping them in a glad ware container until I could clean out a terrarium. I decided to clean out that container. So I started moving them into another container. Got about 5 of them into the new container, realized they could climb out of that one so I went to go grab a lid. Somehow I knocked the main container over. Roaches went running in all directions! I quickly scooped up as many as could but then remembered I was looking for a lid for the new container. I turned around and saw that they were escaping one by one from that container! I quickly covered the top of that container and turned around to see roaches running into some very hard to reach places. Found some in all kinds of weird places.... I'm dead meat....

She's been out of town for the last week and gets home tomorrow. I am very tempted to play the "oh by the way honey, did you know we have roaches in the house? I caught a bunch and put them in a container. I am going to try culture them as food for L.B."

I can't lie to her though....

I put up some each bait and glue traps. So far I have caught 3. After I've had crickets, I love roaches a lot more. No noise, very little smell. Crickets were horrible. They were a pain In the @$$ to catch if they escaped. Now I feed my guys silkworms and roaches.

Yeah, I'm kind of thinking I might need a roach motel or something. I did not have a lot of males but I think a couple of nymphs got loose.

I hate my life...

As long as she does not see them before I get my bearded dragon!

Stay up tonight with a flashlight and the lights off and catch any roaming roaches. Lol jk

What kind of roaches. All I have now are the dubias. I would like to get some more like hisssers and bananas. Although I am starting to second guess that.

Crickets are great cause I can also feed them to my plants!

I seriously feel for you and wish you the best of luck finding or killing them all.

I can't imagine the hell I would catch if I were in your shoes. I certainly hope you can keep them hidden or that the women of your house are more understanding than mine.

Well, I am pretty sure I did not get them all...

This will be interesting...

put some food in the warmest spot and the room and wait them :)))
my baby crickets escape and i always find them in the bathroom and i get scared every time i see one thinking its a lobster roach !
dono how my crickets escape ....

Nymphs don't have babies, so unless you have an adult female running around you are safe. I had a couple of juvies escape in my garage and they died. We found them dead. Good thing I knew how many got away from me.

I guess we can all learn from you. Always have a cover at hand when dealing with roaches and always make sure it is a tall container so they can't make it to the top. My Discoids don't climb which is nice.

That is why I use a glass aquarium for my dubia's haha! No tupperwares for me! Hissers can climb anything so if you are going to get them you need to put vasoline around the top so they can't climb out. Same with dubia's and plastic containers.
