you should get off as much dirt as possible
swirl the whole plant in a bucket of soapy water then rinse it and "rub" the leaves dry lightly
then dunk the roots into a bleach water solution and plant in organic soil

Kills bacteria, small animals, mold, fungiOk, I know my hands don't like bleach. IMO this is excessive, rinsing the roots with a bleach water solution. Why? What am I missing? I wash new plants with soap water and rinse. I never repot plants, I usually srape off an inch or so of soil and put some organic potting soil on top and cover with rocks. I've never had a problem and I can't tell you how many plants and trees I've used in 20 years of Chameleon keeping. Not bagging on you, just sayin.
