Faly or Ambanja?

I have a 6 month old chameleon, It was sold as a Nosy Faly, but I've shown many pictures to a well known breeder and he is almost 100% that it is an Ambanja!

Tell me what you guys think!

Man he looks faly to me. he is just young give him some time to color up. Dont let everyone get in your head just give it some time. Its funny how people say ambanja but more then half the people out there havent even seen a faly in person

Haha good, the person I was also talking to thinks that the Faly is just a hybrid of locales and not it's own..I often take his word for things because he's been in the business for years

I call BS on that I have a few friends that have been to madagascar and to a lot of towns and islands and they have sent me some pics from there of some crazy nosy falys from the island of nosy faly so how can a island chameleon be a hybrid.....??????. It cant.lol wow they need to do some research befor they start talking lol.

Wow really guys... What makes me think faly is the head shape the pail yellow cheek and the under lieing white that looks to be nice and clean and what looks to be red rain starting to show up on his underside . I would like to here why you all think he is ambanja. Keep in mind he is only 6 months old .

ive seen alot of the DR G babies and others an alot looked just like this, one give away for me is the lack of red rain in the rite places look at all your falys an how the rain is it is lackin red rain cept down low the red in its bars isnt rain.
you shouldnt haveta turn your faly over to see its rain..
your rite he is only 6 months old time will tell but this is my opinion..

But at the same time I have noticed in every locale they all have a little differant head. and this ones head says faly. But only time will tell I agree. It just so hard to say one way or another at this age.

Thats also something I noticed.. the rostral process is small on this guy, unlike ambanjas..hmmm.. time will tell

I personally think its an Ambanja. Lee is correct in saying he looks the correct shape for a Faly but he just doesnt have the colouration. He looks too much like a blue Ambanja. Theres a post out there somewhere about a guy who travelled from Nosy Faly to Ambanja and recorded the colour variations along the way. Ill try find it unless someone else does in the mean time.

Appreciate your guys opinions, I think Texas is right by saying it's a Faly, even though I kind of see more of an Ambanja - but my experience is very limited!

I'll post more pics in a month or when I start seeing more coloration!

Time will tell!

He is CB - it was sold as a baby from Raiden's bloodline

I wouldn't get all freaked out worrying that he's Ambanja. Falys and banjas show very similar traits. Give him some time to color up. I'll bet once he's full grown, show him a female and that light blue will go full on white.
