Howdy All,
(Sorry Moderators for posting this in the General Discussion area but I keep getting feedback that many miss it when it is in the Lounge area .)

We are having the next SBCK meeting at the downtown Los Angeles location. Once again, Steve Sims is able accommodate us in the fancy downstairs lobby area of his workplace building.

Think of any topics that you might want to bring-up the round-table discussion. You might even want to post them here (https://www.chameleonforums.com/general-discussion/) under the meeting invite posting beforehand just in case someone wants to prep their thoughts about it.

Always check for last minute meeting location changes too.

LA Gift Mart
1933 S. Broadway
The Lobby Area
Los Angeles, CA 90007

Near the southeast quadrant of where 110 fwy and the 10 fwy cross.

Link no good? Go to Google maps (http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&tab=wl) and cut/paste this into the search window: 1933+S+Broadway,+Los+Angeles

There is free parking (gated parking entrance) in the lot directly in front of the building entrance during the hours that we will be there. You'll see 3 very tall pine trees next to the south side of this ~12 story building where the free after-hours parking is located.

The "South Bay Chameleon Keepers" (SBCK) meetings are held on the last Tuesday of the month from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm. These free-of-charge meetings are pretty much free-flowing, with all chameleon topics open for discussion. "Show and Tell" discussions are common. We continue to experiment with group bulk-buys (silkworms, hornworms, superworms, crickets, dubias etc.) at our meetings. Some members may be bringing these feeders to sell but that's not guaranteed. Let us know if you are looking for these feeders (or anything else) and we'll try to confirm availability (pre-ordering) before the meeting. Some keepers bring their chameleon books and magazines along with other various items to spark discussions.

Don't hesitate to RSVP with an email to: [email protected] if you think you might be coming. Didn't RSVP? Come anyway!

On your way and got lost? For this meeting, call Dave Weldon on his cell phone# 310-600-4793.

Our group ranges from long-time breeders to novice keepers. Lately, there have been 20+ members attending. There are usually new members at every meeting.

No guarantees but there are usually snacks and drinks brought-in by some of the attendees.

See You There,

SBCK

(NOTE)
The www.chameleonforums.com has added a "Social Group" area that our SBCK members, or those wishing to join the SBCK group, can associate themselves to by requesting an "Invite" (https://www.chameleonforums.com/groups/south-bay-chameleon-keepers.html). Our purpose for having the SBCK Group area on this Forum is to help SBCK members keep track of who & how to contact other SBCK members. The term "Member" is used loosely to mean anyone who attends the free meetings. If you have no intention of ever attending any of the face-to-face meetings there is no benefit to being part of the group and you will likely not be "Added" or kept in this Social Group list . This SBCK group area is not intended to replace the main forum. Use the regular Forum area for all posts. Use the SBCK group area as a means of locating other SBCK members to send PMs etc. Continue to use the latest monthly "Meeting Invite" posting as a place to post to the SBCK members at are also "ChameleonForums" members. There are still a few SBCK members that are not yet Forum members but continue to receive their notices via the [email protected] emails. It appears, for the moment, that Junior Member status on the ChameleonForums does not yet have enough "Permission Level" to join a Social Group. I will look into that situation with the Site Admin.

Let the bug and chameleon swap begin!
I have dubias if anyone wants to buy some. And Kevin? I need some silkies! And Elisa? I need some Hydei FF!

I'll bring what I've made. I started two dozen cultures on January 30th. Then I made another two dozen on February 14th. Nice way to spend Valentine's Day, eh? I hope to make at least 2 dozen every two weeks. If we go through them all, I'll increase the numbers for the March meeting. I was just afraid to have too many fruit flies on my hands.

Elisa...I wont be coming but Nate will be, and if I could reserve 2 FF that would be awesome. Sadly since the last meeting 2 of the pgyms died...Dunno why, but I guess it happens with them *sad face*

and is it difficult to make your own? you said you would post the how to, but I dident see it anywhere.

Dangit, I just ordered a cage and light from there :(
Oh well.

I like all the trading it sounds like you guys do. Very positive spirit!

We need a Chameleon Keepers Meeting in Ontario, I am so jealous of you guys. Too bad there wasn't a way to capture the meeting on video for us unlucky people who don't have the opportunity to attend a meeting like that. Do you have a newsletter or similar?

Kevin. Does the place where you get the Superworms have those plastic shakers with the holes in the bottom where you can sift out the bedding and it leaves the worms?

Need one of those. If anyone has the proper name I'll check LLL to see if they carry it.

I am so excited...

I missed the last meeting because I was traveling for business. :(

I cannot wait for this one. I am sure I was missed :D:p

For show and tell I am going to bring in a pair of young
Furcifer. verrucosus verrucosus . Not something everyone sees everyday and they are coloring up nicely. Very interesting species

If anyone would be interested in a pair of CB (unrelated) carpet chameleons let me know. The female I have is gravid with an infertile clutch. (she is amazingly beautiful) They would be ready to breed after she lays this clutch. I want them to go as a pair to a good home. If not I may just keep them. We could work out a good deal and would be open to trade.

Water Crystals?

Hi Ryan,
I missed you guys! Peaches is doing great BTW. Do you have any water crystals left? If so can you bring some? I don't need a lot, just a small bag will do. Thanks and see you there! Looking forward to seeing your Verrocosus.

I will be sure to bring some. I am glad peaches is doing well. Her little friends are growing so fast.

The kind I use is a square strainer for washing veggies. It's white plastic. I use it when cleaning out the superworm bin.

I think these came from the 99 Cent store or maybe Big Lots. Sorry, I forgot.

Sometimes I put some superworms in it and set the tray in my garden to feed the birds. We get so many in the surrounding shrubs where they build their nests. The worms can't get out of the tray, water doesn't get trapped and drown the worms. Works great.

That was kind of off topic. Anyway, is there a smaller version that you're talking about? I might be able to use something like that for scooping out feeders.

They sell a glass jar with a screw on lid with large holes in it (for parmesan cheese I think) that I picked up at Dollartree.
