Feeder questions

Hey guys, I've got a couple questions about feeders...my veiled is about 4 months old (just a guess by his size, petstore said he was 7-9)..I've only had him for a couple of weeks and I've been feeding him crickets so far but I want to get him something else so he doesn't get bored..Just wondering if there is any particular feeders that are better for younger chams..Just a note, I live in Canada so there's some things I can't get as easy as others...Here's a picture of my guy...

1807,

Welcome to the forums. Great looking veiled you've got. Lots of different feeders on the market that you can try with your little guy. Dubias, horn, silk and superworms, just to name a few. At his age, feed as much as he will eat. You will find that your guy will like some feeders over others. Depending on where you live and how you like to procure your feeders, there are many companies that supply insects to your front door for a reasonable price. You might find this thread good reading:

There are many sponsors here that provide a variety of insects as well:

I live in CA and order from Rainbow meal worms: (not a site sponsor)

When I order, I get a cup of small hornworms and 50-100 banded crickets, but they have variety packs too.

For what it's worth, I also raise dubia roaches and superworms, so this provides variety in Lucky's diet. From my experience, quality supplementation and variety of feeders is, in part, a key element to keeping Lucky healthy and thriving in his environment. Let us know how it goes.

Roaches superworms crickets horns silks. And I also recommend staying away from meal worms. I got a lot of problems with those

Bsfl work very well for my juvenile panther. They are naturally high in calcium and are easy to gutload. They seem to devour apples and squash. Also they can pupate into black soldier flies which add another element of stimulus. (Most chams will go for anything that flies)

What are bsfl? Sorry new to this and not used to the lingo lol

Thanks everyone for the replies. I'm gonna go out today and look for a few different things options for him. I'm also going to look into ordering online, seems like a way better option and saves money..I was reading last night on one website that says they have the right to hold your order depending on the weather. Does anyone know if all sites do this? I mean it makes sense that they wouldn't ship something if it's to hot or to cold so you don't end up with dead bugs. I'm just worried because where I live it's not rare for it to get to -30° - -40° in the winter..just want to make sure my little guy will have everything he needs during the winter...I've got another question as well. What's the best to use for gutload ingredients? Thanks everyone

I never even thought of that. I bet they would love it!
They do love them. I'll find the name of the breeds that you can feed them. Susie just the ones that they come in the hatching kits. takes a while but it's a good little treat for them and it's cheaper than buying silks

Cool thanks

Welcome to the Forum.

Any CANADIAN members who have Canadian sources for this new member? Most US suppliers won't ship to Canada...

CHEERS!

Wish I could help boss. I live in Massachusetts I imagine there's not many places to get them around there. Have you tried super cricket. I think it's super Cricket. CA

I haven't done to much looking myself yet, got distracted by all the awesome advice on here. My boyfriend was looking at a few sites last night and he thinks he looked at the supercricket.ca...we'll keep looking around and contact a few of them to see what they can ship and what not....thanks again for all the help

The banded crickets last forever so if you're getting in bulk that's best way to go. You can't seem to kill those things
