Feeder roaches

I am considering buying the 'turkistan' roach or 'lobster' roaches for my ambilobe, i currently feed crickets out of a feeder dish with a screen, would the same be useful for roaches, or should I come up with a different, more shallow feeder?

also, can i just put them in a glass aquarium, or do they need some kind of soil, or something in the tank?

I cannot tell you this enough, dubia are by far the best feeder roach to keep, breed, keep, keep, keep, breed, and feed off. it's a win/win.. lobster roaches are the devil...!

Ya go with dubia they are by far the best and easiest. and a glass aquarium will work fine just get some large egg cartons trays and a heat pad and thats all you need. You can feed the roaches out of the dish just like the crickets. Make sure to gutload them too the same as you would crickets

Cool, they are expensive, but i guess overtime they would pay for themselves...any site better than lllreptile to buy them?

Id say the chepest would be from members off of here, thats where i got mine and they are great and much cheaper. I would try roachranch or roachguy if you want to get some off a website but id look around on here for some.

I got my Dubia adults from Lou (dragonbreeder) from the Classifieds section and he was great to deal with.

I have a breeding group of Dubias and also a breeding group of lobster roaches. Lobster roaches can climb anything so they are more challenging to feed. I pinch their heads using tweezers and then hand feed to my chameleon.

I also feed Turkistan roaches and my panther loves all three species.

I use dubia, hissers and lobsters for my lizards and I used turkistan for a while. I will not allow turks or lobsters into my home (I have a seperate building for the lizards).

Dubia aren't as fast reproducing as lobsters or turks, but in the home their safety factor more than makes up for it.

I bought a colony and neither my veiled or panther will touch them. I sold the colony but still have some in hopes that my chams would eat them and they just look at me like.....what? you want me to eat that? PM me if you want to try some first and I'll be glad to mail some to you.

That would be great. Whomi is not a picky eater. It seems he will eat anything that moves within seconds in his cage....my little growin boy...He is like a dog, if i didnt stop feeding him, he would eat until he was sick
