Feeding a new baby

I am getting a baby ambanja that will be roughly around 8-10 weeks old when I get her tomorrow and was wondering if I should start feeding her fruit flies as soon as I get her or should I wait a day or so until she gets used to her new home?

Any suggestions will be great!

8-10 weeks may be a little big for fruit flies. I usually feed any new chams right away as they are hungry after shipping!

When I got mine home from the shows I fed them and watered them. Although he had food with him all day he ate 4 crickets and drank water. It wouldn't hurt to have them in there so she can eat.

ok sounds great!! I am getting her from Kammerflage and they told me to buy the fruit flies for her because she will eat them for a couple more weeks...I will definatly buy her crickets then also!

Thank you for your help!

Then go with what they say-they certainly know her size! Post some pics when you get her!

I agree with Julirs. Since you don't have her yet them they would know how big she is. Just throw 4 or 5 in there to see if she has any for lunch.

congrats on getting a chameleon.

Kammers is a reputable breeder. I also purchase my chameleons from them.
I ditto the suggestion on doing what Kammers told you to do.
just prepare small crickets pretty soon.

If it's not to late, have her thow in some housefly pupae. I know she has botfly pupae and assume she has housefly as well. My last cham I bought from her was a little under 3 months old and was eating 30 or more bot flies. Bot flies may be a little big for yours but the houseflies are very small. It will take 4 or 5 days for the flies to hatch and chams go nuts for them. They also hold your supplement powders very well. You'll be very happy with your purchase from the Kammers. Mine was probably the healthiest cham I've ever ordered. Great skin, eyes and very hydrated and active. Good luck. David
