i've read several threads where it is mentioned that people are feeding their chameleons everyother day....

i'm guessing that is is an acceptable practice?? can you do this with young chameleons or at what age is it appropriate??

this is one area that i want to be sure i have covered if i decide to get a chameleon, with my work schedule i'm up and gone at 6am way before any others critters in my house are even stirring... i could coordinate my work schedule with a feeding schedule if very other day feeding is ok.... :)

thanks a lot,,, lisa

Young chameleons (0 to 7 or 8 months old) need to be fed every day.
Every other day is fine after that.

I agree with Brad, but if I have an 8 month old that seems to be on the small side I will keep feeding every day.

thanks Brad and Julie!!!!!

provided i can work out the feedings,,, at what age are male veileds usually purchased?? is "the younger the better" true with chameleons as far as getting started with one, getting him used to you??

thanks again,, lisa

The average age is 3 months that a beginner would want to get one. Most places won't sell a chameleon younger than that however I have seen my local petstore sellin veileds that couldn't be any older than 3 weeks. The younger the better is not necessarily the best, 3-4 months the cham will be still be small and cute and very well established.

thanks jeanjacket812, 3-4 months sounds like a good age to start with as you suggested... like you said they'll be established and eating well at that age ,,, plus still cute... :)

thanks,, lisa

Curious what you (or anyone else) is considering on the smaller size at 8 months.
