Feeding my little panther

I'm having trouble feeding my little panther Marley as he is quite scared of me so he won't let me hand feed him!
I've also tried to leave some locusts in a cup for him but it's hard to get him steering in the cups direction to see that there is anything in there...
I would most definately love to let them free roam but my enclosure has quite a lot of foliage too so it's difficult to see if he eats them or not so it's quite tough trying to monitor what he is actually eating and getting most of the feeders out before he needs to go to bed.
I normally try to feed him in the afternoon (around 2) because this is the time I am normally at home, could this be a reason why he doesn't want to eat that much?

Unfortunately I haven't actually found a solution yet , can anyone help?

How old is your panther??
Try feeding him in the morning and try to find a lower container for food not a cup they cannot see at some angles of the cup..

You could put a few in his cage and move away from the cage and observe him for a little while to see if he goes after them at all. He shouldn't have a problem as long as his cage is the right size for him.

He is 3 months and I've had him for about a week

Ok yea i'll try that, I just thought that would be easier coz then none of crickets could get out

I did try this and he does seem to go for them but then they jump away and I don't see him move to find them after that. Maybe he does go look for them afterwards?
I try not to scare him as much as possible basically by not watching him all the time lol
I think I've also noticed that he would prefer it if I wasn't watching him when he eats!

Try to pinch the legs off the crickets so they dont jump out of the container or away from the little guy.

I have a panther the same age, and haven't gotten him to cup feed yet either. I'm sure he will when he's ready. I also can't wait to hand-feed him, but we're still a ways off from that too. He's much too shy at this point, like yours.

I would suggest you try houseflies and silkworms which my guy seems to prefer over anything else. Unlike crickets, houseflies will hang out at the top of the cage by the lights, which makes them easy targets.

good luck!

Some chameleons like to go after their food and others like to just sit back and wait for the food to come to them :) I'm sure if he is shooting at them then he is eating some. You should try silkworms and put a couple on his vines. They move just enough to get their attention, but not enough to get away from them. Then I'm sure you could see him get a few. Not to mention silkworms are really nutritious for them!
