Feeding question

I've done plenty of reading and found that my veiled is about 5-6 months and I was wondering if I should start feeding him every other day instead of every day, I'm feeling a little bad about it since he's been eating everyday since I got him.. Any suggestions?

This forum has done an amazing job and providing me with information that has made me a better keeper to my lil guy, appreciate any info

Personally, since he is in the habit of eating everyday, I would continue to feed him everyday depending on what he is getting now! I do this regardless of age. While I don't feed them AS much as I do when they are younger, Chams know when it is feeding time especially if they have been in a set routine for a while.
How much are you feeding him now? He looks very healthy (maybe getting ready to shed?). An adult male should weigh anywhere between 200-220 grams so keep an eye on that!

He was eating about 7 medium crickets or 6 large crickets, 1-2 super worms or small to medium horn worms, he lost interest in Dubia roaches so he none of those.. But mostly 7-8 gut loaded crickets. I switched to large and he seemed to be ok with eating 4-5

Ive noticed they are a bit likely to go on a food strike if they see food every day though... So while I agree, and I would continue feeding every day (just less amounts each day - cutting it in half in a similar way), there may be cons that come with it. Just know that if he does go into a food-strike, that that would then be a good time to cut it down to every few days. As long as you have good variation in the diet, and food can be found in different spots (if cup feeding) so that there is interest around meal time, then you shouldn't have too many problems! Just something to look for! :)

Thank u very much!

The way I see it they are still growing at a pretty good rate at this age and need the food and calcium. I feed everyday up until about a year old. This advice was given to my by Kammerflage Kreations, a longtime breeder in the business.

Your cham has a beer gut in that pic. Good to see. Veils really do require a large food intake for their bones and growth. Carol hit it on the head about leveling him off at about a year to year and a half. Try mixing it up, with silkworms, hornworms, mantids, moths, superworms, blue bottle flies. He will need that variety of nutrients from multiple feeders. Don't forget occasional greens and fruits, that are veil safe.

I tried giving him small bits of papaya and mango but it was a no go, I feed the lil guy crickets, horn worms, super worms, Dubi roaches a little and recently found a silk worm breeder in a suburban reptile expo.. Thanks for all your replies
