Feeding times

My local PetSmart told me that my veiled chameleons lamp needs to be on for an hour before she starts eating.. Is this true?? I got her on the 25th, and I've been waking up at 5 am to turn on her lamp and then waking back up at 6 & giving her around 6 crickets and some mealworms. I've been waking up this early because I have to wake up at 6 for school & be there at 7:20.

And is it okay to feed my four month old chameleon mealworms?? Some sites have been saying its okay and some have been saying its hard for digestion.. Please let me know

Thank you!!

Your cham does need to warm up in the morning for a while before feeding.
Though they will eat pretty much any time, it's better for their digestion if
you alow they to reach desired body temp.

Mealies are not good as food staples, they are too high in fat, and have little
nutrient quality. They can also cause constipation and are hard to digest.

Cricket nymphs would be a better choice, just be sure to gut-load them a
few hours before feeding.

Take whatever they tell you at PetStupid with a grain of salt!
