Feeding your feeder mantids

hey all,

people on here who feed your chams a praying mantis once in a while.

for an adult panther, what is the largest mantis that you'll feed your adult panthers?

do you guys just raise the mantis on fruit flies... than feed em off when theyre still really small?

have you guys ever gutloaded the mantids with something different? like a little fish?

or a bunch of wax worms. just to fatten the mantid up.

I'm new to raising mantids, but as I've got about 300 now I've been doing a lot of research. Go to mantidforum.net to read some stuff from some seriously deprived people...if you thought some of these cham folks were boring. try these guys!

Whoa? A forum dedicated to mantids? Do these guys keep them as pets or something?

Yes, there are forums and people that raise mantids. Check out my thread https://www.chameleonforums.com/deadliest-feeder-insect-24296/ The last couple pages, there's a guy on there that raises them, I'm sure if you sent him a PM he might help ya out. He might not though if you tell him you're just going to use them as feeders, but worth a shot.

I am going to be adding some of my own techniques and pictures to shed what little light I've aquired with hatching these little beasts. Check that thread out and we'll see if we can revive some excitement with these fascinating feeders...ahem...insects. Excuse me!
