female and eggs

sasha hasnt been eating much and shes been roaming around ALLOT i find her behind the tv almost every day and thats about 10' from her cage shes also been crawling down towards the bottom of her enclosure and roaming around

i got a laying bin for her its about 2' x 1.5' and the sand is about 1.5' deep

ive had her in the bin for the last 2 days and i take her out at night

theres a cutout in the top for her uv but i dont have any heat going into the bin

shes been walking around allot in the bin and sometimes trys to get out


my question are....

1. does the bin sound good
2. does she need a heat bulb AND the uv strip
3. does she sound gravid
4. is there anything important i should know

a vet told me alot of the time they lay at night

i really have no idea though, but its something i've hear. i'm just passing it along


EDIT: also when she is in there don't treat her any different. keep heat and UV on top of the dark bucket(laying bin). and have some foliage she can hide under. i think most of all they need space so they feel alone and safe from "preditors" so they can lay

The bin is big enough. Is it opaque?

As for moving her back and forth....I have an opaque container in all egglaying female chameleon cages that is big enough for the female to fit into when empty with a couple of inches to spare on all sides including above and below her. I fill it about 3/4 full of moist washed playsand. This way she can start to dig in this container to show you that she is going to lay eggs. Once she is digging intently, I move her to the larger container. I don't like the disruption of moving her back and forth.

When the chameleon is digging don't let her see you watching her. It will make her abandon the hole and if it happens often enough it can lead to eggbinding.

You can feed and water the female even when in the large container as long as you remove any uneaten insects and do it when she is up in the branches so you don't make her abandon the hole.
