Female Veiled Chameleon

I'm doing my on going research on female veils and I am confused. The reptile specialist at the pet store I bought from told me that they will lay false clutches. She then mentioned that I should leave a pot of soil at the base of the enclosure for her to dig in to lay her eggs.

Can anyone give me some more details, my veiled is still a juvenile so I'm not too sure how long until she mature.

Are you planning to breed? If not use this method to raise your female veiled: http://raisingkittytheveiledchameleon.blogspot.com/2007/12/keeping-female-veiled.html

Chameleons can lay infertile eggs without being mated or without even having a male around. Depending on her food intake and temps she could start laying at 6 months or so. It is hard on their little bodies to lay eggs and shortens their life. If not planning to breed I would use the method above. After about 6 months of age I would still recommend keeping a laying bin in the cage just incase so that if your female does produce eggs she will not go egg bound....egg bound usually causes death.
