fertile or infertile?

hi, my veiled chams mated on the last week of october and my female laid 46 eggs on the last week of november. as time passes, some of the eggs got molds so there were only 30 eggs left. the remaining eggs are growing. now my concern is, just 2 days ago, i discovered my male veiled had oversized sperm plugs stuck on his hemipenis. im quite sure the plugs are around when they mated because of the size it is before i pulled it out 2 days ago. could the eggs be fertilized even with the sperm plugs on? thanks!

I don't quite understand your question..

"Sperm Plugs" are excess sperm a male makes. It doesn't really "plug" the sperm form coming out or anything.

If you chameleons mated.. they chances are high the eggs are fertile.. especially if they are growing.

sperm plugs come and go. Wouldn't worry about their effect on fertility- should be fine. October was a long time ago and current plugs almost certainly weren't even there anyway. Even if- they come and go, shouldn't effect fertility.

thanks guys! i know sperm plugs come and go. but what i have discovered after reading several threads is that some sperm plugs need manual extraction for some reason. and one member posted that his/her male couldnt fertilize a female after several attempts and he/she later found out that it was due to oversized sperm plugs that was affecting the fertilization. im just curious if the fresh sperm could still be passed to the female if there are sperm plugs attached to the male during mating. the sperm plugs i have pulled from the male is about half an inch.

You should have seen the sperm plugs my vet pulled out from my Nosy Be a couple years ago while in his office for something else, it made even him gasp! But sperm plugs are just like boogers, they can be passed by the chameleon by dragging his vent along branches or it may be pushed out along while defecating. They don't all need manual extraction. Trust me, it's why I have to wipe the branches on my male's cage because he covers them in sperm plugs.

And that's a really long time to have one, so I'd be willing to bet that it hasn't been there as long as you think.

Yes, it's very likely that the eggs you have left are developing normally. It's not unusual for some to be infertile, especially in a large clutch.

Thank you! No, he's actually a Faly x Ambanja cross.
