First Silkworms - YUMMY!

The postman delivered Amy's first silkies this morning! I couldn't wait to offer her a couple, so I put one on my hand, and Amy took one look and I thought she was going to run and hide, lol! :D She sat there eyeing it up for a while, then it started wriggling and she realised it was food and out shot that sticky tongue!

The silkies didn't come with any food - just in a tub with some wood shavings. Do I need to do anything with them, or just leave them in the tub?

hmmm, thats odd, they shouldve come with atleast some chow. if you have mulberry leaves available thatll do, theyll munch on carrots and beetroot leaves too though.

That's great news that she liked them(Trixxi's gone off her ones!)my silkies didn't come with any food so i ordered some chow(green slimy block) that came in the same parcel.Trixxi ate a moth today(hatched out of some wax worms that had pupated in their tub(i checked on here first and it said it was O.K to give to her)i held it by the wings and she gobbled it up!

Thanks! That's good, I've got carrot for the crix and locusts. I didn't realise they eat anything else other than Mulberry leaves or chow!

Yeah, Lily used to love the moths! They don't tend to fly upwards to the lights though! Well, mine didn't! You could always try and breed them. That silk chow stinks, doesn't it? I had some come with the silkies I ordered ages ago for Lily. Got them from a different place that time I think.

you cant feed them carrots perminately, just a few days, you can use beetroot leaves though. it makes them spin a red cocoon
