Fisher's Sperm Plugs

I will chalk this one up to yet another learning experience in Chameleon Land! Yesterday I noticed that Fisher had some crusty stuff hanging out of his vent. I have already been through a prolapse with a different cham-so I knew it wasn't that-it was obviously plugs. I soaked him for about 15 minutes since it was very dry and not really moving, and then I gently pulled it out. It took more pressure than I thought (not yanking!) but they came out pretty easily. One side was still in a hemipene, which scared me a little. I do not see how these were ever coming out. They were over 1/2" long each. Here are some pics-not to gross anyone out (My Hubby was yelling-"Don't show them to me or I will puke!":p) but for reference in case anyone deals with this. Dave Weldon had posted on a thread that helped me out immeasurably today! Thanks Dave! :D

That's pretty freakin nasty. I can only imagine what that felt like for the Cham. Had to be one hell of a weid sensation.

What is it exactly?
I'm a little confused... i dont know if im supposed to wince for the little guy... or if its some coming of age thing?

hi, after reading this thread i learned a lot of things and began soaking my male veiled in warm water for 8minutes and then tried pulling out 2 big plugs stuck in his hemipenis. im a little worried because it's been 10minutes passed and one of his hemipenis has not pop back in. could this be a prolapse? before pulling the big plug his hemipenis was not exposed. i carefully pulled the plug im sure i did not hurt him. i need suggestions please

Hi, if it isnt goin bk in youll haveta make sure it stays moist, best stuff ive found to use is water soluble lube like ky not the jelly"to messy" its a liquid put a lil on an see if he can pull it bk in then. if not youll haveta help him with it or keep it moist till you can get him to a vet..

Yes, you have to keep the hemipenes moist with KY Jelly and get him to a vet as soon as possible if he can't get them back in.
Otherwise the tissues die.

thanks. how long should i wait until i decide to take him to the vet? and what should i tell the vet? because we dont have a reptile vet here in our city. our vet is willing to help but she should know what to do with it . :/
