flexarium zipper problems....

we have had our 100 gal. flexarium open for the last 2 months because the zippers do not work .... after about a month of having the flexarium the zippers did not zip up anymore..... our chameal has shown no signs of wanting to come out of her cage... she has loved being in it ....UNTILL TODAY my girlfriend calls me out of bed to find chameal sitting right be side her uvb light on the top of the cage ....

exo-terra / hagen says they will not send us a new mesh for the flexarium unless we send them a receit of the cage ... we lost the receit so we cant get a new one ....

im wondering if anyone has had the same problem with the flexariums or maybe any ideas for a door .... or a way to fix the zippers??

i can sympathize

most definitely i have! i had to paper clip shut the entire side of my old 100 gallon. the screen is just simply way too tight. i cant remember where i read it..but someone had the idea of shortening the height and width etc. to give the screen more room and ease the tension on the zipper...so its probably too late but if you get a new one you now know. otherwise, for your issue now i would probably get some longer strips of velcro and sew them around the edges, that should probably keep her from getting out again! good luck

My best advice would be ditch the Flexarium and try something else, like an Alum screen cage. I can't stand the Rept/Flexariums, and some recent tests by members of the forum show the HORRIBLE at allowing UV to pass through. I have some in storage that I may use for babies or something in the future, but before I use them I am going to modify them by sewing in a more "UV Penetrable" material like alum screen into a section on the top. The only real plus I see about these cages is that the chams tend to feel secure behind the dark screen. Everything else about them sucks, especially the zipper!

ye they realy suck! the zip just jams and makes the whole cage vibrate while you undo it, that just stresses them out! realy bad!:( go with a metal screen cage!:)
