would a 38gal flexarium be suitable for a young veiled about the age of 6 weeks/8 weeks roughly. and how quick would they grow out of it etc.

i am still not that familiar with US system (i grew up learning metric)
but if i am right 38 gallon is about 36 1/4 "x 12 5/8 "x 19 3/4"
that size is good enough until your cham is about 5 to 6 months old.
or until his SVL (Snout to Vent Length) measurement grows to 4" or longer.

I use 75W household bulbs for basking on my Reptariums and I have had no melting issues. Crickets can chew holes though-but that is easily fixed by sewing them up with fishing line.

38's are excellent for raising babies in. Male Veileds will outgrow them in 6 months, but by then you will need a spare cage for sunning or for cleaning or for another cham!

They can take alot. I have something setting onto of the cage and then have the light on top of it. (Some wire shelves, coated in plastic) Hard to explain. I use 100W housebulbs and have no problems.

A 38 Gallon Flexarium is 16.5" X 16.5" X 30" A little big for an 8 week old. But you can lay the cage horizontally instead of vertically for a while. Not that great of an idea either though so Chameleon's like to be up high but at least the cage wont' be too big and the Cham can still be an area small enough yet big enough to catch his food and wonder around.

I raised my 8 week old male Veiled up in a 38 gal Reptarium just fine-no need to put it on it's side.

ok thanks guys just one more thing ive read alot of people saying that these flexariums have poor visability so viewing my cham wont be very good and also i will need a 10.0 reptisun tube now instead of a 5.0 is this all true? also what other "enclosures" are out there because i havent seen many other than normal vivs etc which arn't suitable for a cham.

It is true that you cannot see in them as well as you can see into a screen cage, but with proper lighting you can certainly see your cham just fine, and I feel especially with a baby that they feel more secure in these cages.
I do suggest the 10.0 due to the thick dark mesh, and like I said do raise it about 3-5" off of the top, maybe even more so if you see your baby hanging from the age ceiling.

In my picture the cages on the bottom are Reptariums/Flexariums. Hopefully that will give you a visual comparison of the difference. The pictures make them seem even darker than they are with the flash hitting the black mesh.

On each Reptarium I have a Reptisun 10.0 (in a cheap Walmart undercabinet fixture) and a clamp lamp with a 60W or 75W household lightbulb for basking. In each I have a Schefflera and some fake vines. Each Reptarium has the Softray plastic liner that goes in it.
