FYI- found fly maggots at my local bait shop. I went in to get my crickets and saw a sign on the front door saying they had fly maggots. I asked the owner and he showed them to me. They are EXTREMELY active straight out of the fridge. He said I had to keep them refrigerated or the would hatch into flies in a few days. Don't know if that's accurate or not. I'm going to try and gutload them first as I don't know what they have been fed on. They were 2.99 per 100. I'm also going to try and let a few become flies. Does anyone have any experiance in this? Thanks David

There was a local company that tried to market a fly larva species under the name "twisters"
they were red in color and had fed upon fresh meat ( it's possible that they were fed some sort of dye to color their bodies).
according to the analysis they were very healthy
however I was never able to get over my concerns about possible prolems
with a new bottle fly maggots
and on top of that my chams didn't see them as a food item
much in the same way they "turned off" to a honey bee (with the stinger removed).
