force feeding?

As some of you may know my female spectrum pygmy is not doing well at all. I gave her a few drops of water through a seringe without the needle in it. I was wondering if it was possible to maybe put a cricket in her mouth as if to 'force feed' her. I don't want to block her air ways etc though so i'm asking if its sensible or not.

you could try, but just place in the mouth dont push it down. she might get angry and try to bite you though, or just keep her mouth open tring to warn you off.

if you use crickets, i would pull the back legs off so it dosnt jump out, or use mealworms.

yeah she wasnt very happy when i used a seringe without the needle to get some water down her! i will try with a little mealworm they are much easier to keep hold of. Thanks

Tryme, I know the feeling of seeing one start failing and feeling helpless.

Handing feeding, giving meds, and watering by force is a wasted effort imo

They get so stressed out by being handled, in the past it would be a death sentence for them.

Have you figure out what is wrong with her? The better way is to find the cause and fix that as opposed to treating symptoms.

Good luck, wc spectrums have been problematic for me as well.

Sadly I didn't get there in time. I gave her water etc she wasn't eating I could see she was getting weaker by the day and she died sometime today or last night. I'm very down about this, I let her down and I let myself down. I thought pygmy would be easier to care for then my veiled but infact they are harder because you don't notice if things are going wrong before it's to late. And even when you do notice theres not much you cna do as they are so small etc and no vets cater for them. If and when my eggs do hatch i'm going to make sure I do everything correct. Could somebody please write up a little shopping list or check list so I know I have everything ready. Thank you.
