elizadots- those aren't skinks in your pictures LOL those are long tailed grasslizards- a type of asian lacertid not related to skinks other than they are both lizards.
Of course it is a lizard- but I've never heard of or seen this type or anything very closely related and that doesn't happen to me too often any more. (Not that it doesn't happen from time to time- I'm not the world's lizard expert or anything LOL). This is a cool looking lizard. The fact that it apparantly is aquatic and the look of it's tail (highly flattened) is really cool too me!
Skink is a pretty good guess based on body type- it could be something else though too (as the long tailed grass lizard being called a skink illustrates). It's head and tail do not look skink-like to me. The eyes are mounted up on top of the head more, it has too narrow of a nose/mouth (head almost looks shaped like a water monitor or that long tailed grasslizard shown above), and the tail is too long and ends with a rounded tip. Looks sort of like a lizard imitating a salamander which I find very cool. Even the color is like a salamander.
The tongue flicks too often too for a skink- more like a lacertid and tongue type does look like a lacerta and head shape as well, but nothing else about it looks like a lacerta (edit- more I look at it more it looks lacerta-ish to me now that I think about that long tailed grass lizard- those move a lot like the one in the video as well and have the long body and tail- the fine smooth scalation is pretty unique for a lacerta though and the tail shape too). Could be a new type of skink, could be a lacerta, could be something new? My guess is lacerta, but I wouldn't be surprised if you guys guessing skink are correct.
Long tailed skinks are small lizards in the family Lacertidae and are not skinks at all. They come from Asia where they live in long grass.
Long tailed grass lizards are called long tailed skinks. Sorry for making that confusing.
