Free the pothos?

Just wondering if anyone has tried to unpot their pothos? Pothos are epiphytes, meaning that in nature they live in trees, not in soil. I bought one and "freed" it on Friday, but its not too happy with me right now. Its getting plenty of water (Mist King, 7 times a day @ 2 min each). I'm hoping its just a transition period, but wanted to hear if anyone else has had success freeing their pothos.

I'm not entirelly sure since i know they can live in water, in soil but never heard of them being a air plant.

May just be a transition period. I free'd my lipstick plant, it didn't seem too happy for a while, then went nuts :) Took a few weeks though, and a few of the stems still aren't exactly leaping to life, but most are good. Is pothos definitely an epiphyte though, i've never heard that before
