can you feed frozen pumpkin to roaches with out it changing it ( like vits will still be there if its frozen? ) the pumpkin farmers give us pumpkins ever year to feed out our hogs, but we did not do hogs this yr, but I know the fresh pumpkin and squash can be used to feed the roaches, what about freezing it too ?
thanks :)

I have never done that way, sounds like it could be very messy.
I do however cut up chunks of butternut squash and steam them so they are cooked, but still pretty firm.
Then just put small cubes of it in there and store the rest in the freezer :)

ok, thanks :) I hate to turn down free bug food :p I dont need the truck full like they bring- but a few to freeze then - ty again :)

Winter squash will keep for several months in a cool, dry, not too bright room, like a basement.

to keep in freezer....

cooked: first remove guts and seeds, then halve or quarter the flesh. Steam until soft. Remove skin. Puree. Put into heavy freezer bags.

Raw: remove guts and seeds, peel, cut into chunks. Put on a baking sheet in a single layer, and freeze. Once frozen transfer into a storage container and return to freezer.
