fruit/veg????

fruits and veggies

I feed my yemen things like romaine lettuce, mustard greens, bannana (once a month TOPS and only a small slice at that), strawberries, kiwi... you can dust them too with calcium... no more than 1/4 of a tablespoon for all of the fruits and veggies.

Another thread........

Deja Vu..............I just posted to the thread below:

Same topic. Collard and dandelion greens are the best for high calcium/low phosphorus. If you have to give a fruit, Papaya is really the only one that is high in calcium/low in phosphorus. You have to make sure it is not over ripe though, because it can be messy. I'm wondering how much fruit a Veiled would get in the wild though. I can see them munching on vegetation when insects are not available. I don't think they have much access to fruit, so I wonder if it should be given to them very often. I've had iguanas for years and that forced me to learn all the appropriate things for a high calcium/low phosphorus diet. There are some really good tables giving all the values for veggies/fruits in sites for iguana owners.

This may sound stupid but what in the world are Collard and dandelion greens? I grew up eating chili dogs, pizza, tri-tip, ribs, roast, meat loaf, chicken. I didn't touch any of that green stuff. lol. I also never did the grocery shopping either so maybe I was deprived I don't know. hehe. Too much discovery channel.

Is it safe to assume that by gut loading with Oranges there will be more Vit C offered to cham. I regularly use banana, apple (red/green), and orange. I saw that one post said maybe once a month for a banana. Just curious as to why once a month. Should I not gut load with fruits as often as I do. I use fruit at least once a week.

Exactly. Veggies are rabbit food.
