Getting a Panther next Week

Little Hat

Hey Everyone,

How's it going? So I'm getting a Panther Chameleon next week and had a couple questions. The Panther will be between 4-5 months old. Do Panthers like fruits or veggie's? My enclosure is 24' x 12' x 24', do you recommend using a feeding cup?

Thanks

You need to start by researching the needs of chams particularly panthers. Go get a book on chams to start and read it over and over. Then start trolling on this site and listen to others suggestions. Also you will need a bigger screen cage than that if hes already 5 months old. Just make sure you have proper lighting and hydration requirements met. Have your supplements ready before he comes. Also get your feeders set up before he arrives. Good luck

I would prob just get the LLL reptile 24x24x48 cage its the best price or build your own :) Do your research and ask anything your not sure about. It will be alot of fun if you take good care of him/her. I dont use a feeding cup because the free ranging helps with muscles and tongue but tons of people use the feeding cups its really just about preference

Also....as you stroll around here you will find a lot of seemingly contradictory information. If you're unsure, seek out one of the mods for advice. They'll steer you in the right direction. Eventually you'll get a feel for what posters have the most real experience and, naturally, those are the ones you should give more weight to.

There are a couple of big advantages to the feeding cup. You'll be able to tell how much your chameleon has eaten and you won't have free roaming crickets in the cage. Some owners have had crickets nibble on their chameleons causing injuries. There are a number of threads that detail methods for making a feeding cup. The FOOD forum would be a good place to check.

Good luck! and enjoy your new chameleon!

i agree, and no panthers don't eat fruits or veggies.......(do research)

Thanks everyone. I've been doing my research, read a couple of books but I think I just got overwhelmed with all the posts.
