Goliath Worm Size?

Hey everyone,

While I'm awaiting the arrival of my next batch of crickets, I stopped by a local store and found some silk and goliath worms from Mulberry Farms. The goliath worms looked to be in better shape than the silkworms, so I picked up a pack.

My veiled went nuts for them. It was the first thing I've ever seen her try to eat directly from my hand without using her tongue. There weren't a very many in there and they're growing pretty quickly. I'd like to feed off the larger ones before they get absolutely huge.

How big is too big for a squishy worm?

I feed my 10 month old male veileds the goliath worms when the worm is fully grown. I've noticed that both my males will wait till it moves about before they decide they want to eat it. Jake manages to gulp the thing down. Fred takes his time with it.

My girl's going nuts for them, but they're approaching finger sized, so I'm not feeding them any more. Now I have to find a new home for 'em!

I had a few i had to give away they grow so fast. The problem was they got to big and my cham could not get the worm off the tree they would stick when he would try to grab them...

Yeah mine had the same problem the first time he snatched one off the side of the cage. When the worms are smaller they don't stick as well. The big mofo's grab tight.

i try to avoid them getting to big.
you can always take them out of the container for one night if you
need them to last longer.
also i think i heard that you can put them in the fridge, but dont
rely on my brain.

with them being soft bodied you can go larger then normal,
but i say feed them as big as your cham can take them.
when mine eats them they usually squirt out 1/4 of themselves anyways
(once hitting me in the face) so you can get away with them being
bigger then their head. but only if your cham will try to eat it.

If you don't want to have them grow too fast you can put them in the fridge. The regiment is 2 days in, 1 day out. I've used it many times and works really good . I might add i put them on the 2 top shelves of the fridge where it isn't too cold. My female veiled, full grown, eats even the biggest one. but she is a piggy. I'm not kidding. Take a look. If you let them go to moths you can also use them as feeders too. If you need more info you can go onto Mulberryfarms.com.

Can I have Porky Pig's autograph?! :p:p:p:D:D;):p:D

She looks cute!

Thanks Summoner12, but she isn't in the mood for autographs. She is really being pissy as usual. She is my most difficult cham, won't even let me near her and if i pick her up for whatever reason i have to make sure i have a grasp on her tail because she has jumped off my hand 1 too many times. I thought they were suppose to be fat and JOLLY. lol.

Have you named her 'Old Saint Nick'? :p:D

Today my GF went to feed Fred and he climbed out onto her arm while she was reaching in to dump out his crickets. He must be getting used to her hands in the cage. Before he would hiss and gape , now he thinks its a free ride out of the cage!:D:cool:
