Good Chameleon?

Greetings mastert,
My juvenile Veiled Chameleon eats more than that. If the cham in question is only getting 3-4 crickets a day, ask if it is getting other sources of food and more variety in types of insects. Veileds will often eat more vegetable matter to make up for insect scarcity and mealworms, phoenix worms, grasshoppers, spiders and so forth are great treats to add to a staple cricket diet for them when available. Make sure potentially dangerous items, like spiders, are eaten quickly or they will set up shop and eat the crickets and even bite your chameleon as it sleeps (spiders are okay, but I avoid offering scorpions, wasps and ants, basically anything that stings). If wild caught critters are offered, make sure to observe them for a day or so before feeding to ensure poison and disease are not present on them.
I would look at the chameleons weight, size, and musculature to ensure it has good body mass. Mine eats 3-4 medium to large crickets twice a day and a couple mealworms then a handful of greens and fruit once a day each. A six month old is still young and growing so reducing its food intake should occur after full adulthood I would think. A young Chameleon will stop eating when it is full.
I would wait for a source that you can actually meet so you can observe the chameleon for a couple days and actually see the conditions they keep it in. I bought mine at a pet store only after checking it out for a good while. Even then, mine had a slight case of respiratory distress that cleared up after I got her into a screened enclosure (as opposed to the glass tank they had her in at the store).

A 6 month male should be eating more than 3-4 crickets a day unless he is also fed supers, silkworms, hornworms, butter worms ect.

thanks for the imput, i talked with the owner more and he said it eats 2 to 5 powdered crix a day and it is kept in a screen cage with uv light and a heat lamp and a humidifier, these arent the best conditions i know, but most pet store chameleons arent kept in the best conditions either but once moved into a better cage do fine. so i plan on using the same set up as the owner with the additions of a auto mister, light and temp timers, and probably a larger cage furnished with a live ficus and some vines along with a new varied diet of other critters besides crickets

hes a looker as far as veileds go.
I would go for it, he looks like he came from a better bloodline than you usually find. get more info on where the seller got him, and wait till you see him in person.
i bet when you see his patterns and colors in person you wont beable to say no.
doesnt look like hes got anything wrong with him that some tlc cant knock out

What is the size of the cage he is coming with? The conditions don't see that bad... he should be eating more than they are offering, unless that is all he will eat....
When you get him, fill us in on the type of UVB lamp he had and the wattage of his heat lamp and misc. things in the cage. We can help ya get it together if ya need the help.
