Good ideas for bottom of cage

Hello all. I have been using eco earth in my 18x18x36” enclosure for my 6 month old female veiled ever since I got her. Although it’s aesthetically pleasing and soaks up water, it is way too messy and unnecessary. I would like to put something on the bottom that is easy to clean and soaks up water well. I’m thinking laying newspaper or papers towels down then cutting out a piece of egg rate to lay over it as eggcrate seems to be popular on these forums. Let me know what y’all think. I attached a pic of my current enclosure.

I have to agree with the above. If you absolutely have to use something then I think paper towels or brown paper bag are the better choices because they don't have any of the inks that newsprint tends to leave behind when wet.

I just want to lay something down that will soak up the drainage water from when I water my plants that sit on the bottom
