actually i meant the plant in the pot on the left

It's grass just like the clump on the right except it was put in the bivwack the day before. These guys can eat

Tod have you been breeding them succesfully in that? Can you please outline a 'how'to' for me, as Id like to give it a go here.
What temps? How fine is the screen? do babies escape? do you transfer egg/substrate trays to tubs? etc

They are just captive feeders at this point.
Their growth rate is slow. Creatures of the sun just don't do well indoors.

That looks like a similar species of grasshopper to what I've (one of three species here in central California) got here in central California.
