Gravid??

She was mated on Feb 21st and Feb 23, a total of two times. It's now day 18 since the first mating. I've got the whole bottom of her cage made into a laying bin of a mixture of washed sand and soil. I wanted to see if you all thought her coloration indicated Gravid? I felt around for eggs, but I didn't want to palpitate to much or hard, so I couldn't tell if there's eggs. She's definitely gained a lot of belly weight.

She looks gravid to me. Shes got the purple on her cheeks. Her belly looks like shes got some eggs in there. Without feeling them i cant be 100%. But id bet she is gravid. Congrats... Thats the faly female you were talking to me about right?

Thanks Scott. Yes, that's the one. :) Right after I put her back in her cage she shows dark colors, and throughout the day she'll show dark colors, but at rest she will usually be really pink. Poor girl still has claw marks on her back from the male. She didn't seem to mind at the time.

Was he a little bit too eager. The first timers sometimes get a little rough. Its like watching your little friend get assaulted. lol I felt kinda bad for her the first time i watched em. (i know im a peepin tom):D What can i say im into cham porn.

She looks very pretty and healthy...congrats!! For sure she looks pregnant to me, i have one female that looks the same and will be dropping eggs soon.

Oh that's great news. Thanks for the kind words. Congrats to you, too man! I'm getting pretty excited. I caught her today going to the bottom of the cage and checking the bin out. Now, I've heard they can lay as early as 23 days?? But usually around 28?? She's definitely slowed on her food intake, and I'm just trying to leave her be as much as possible.

She is definitely not showing gravid coloration. What happens when you show her to the male?

Last time I showed her to a male she turned very dark and was gaping. That was well over a week ago. I'll try here and see what she does.

Don't stress her out...I have just noticed that most Panthers retain gravid coloration. Better safe than sorry. How deep is your laying bin?

See, that's what I was wondering. Most of the gravid pictures I've seen look like she does when she's unreceptive. Sometimes I look at her and think she's definitely gravid coloration and then others she's that pink color in the picture. Her laying bin is about 14" deep and covers the entirety of the bottom of her cage.

I just showed her to the male and got a picture. I'll put it up here in just a sec.

Gravid female Panthers are usually very dark with the peach or pink showing up in their lateral line. Yours looks quite receptive but very chubby. Better safe than sorry-better to assume she is gravid so she does not end up egg bound. She is very beautiful.

Thanks Julirs. Even after mating twice, there is a possibility that she is not gravid? Here's the picture of her after showing her the male.

Do you think that she could possibly show those pink colors and sometimes those dark colors and still be pregnant?. Now I'm just not sure.

Thank you for the kind words Julirs. :)

Here's the sire, Bumblebee:

She could...I have had females that really don't show gravid coloration unless shown to a male.

That girl definitely looks like she is packing something :D. Congrats on the possible eggs to come. She looks beautiful regardless!

^^Thank you for the kind words.

Well, she's been hanging out at the bottom of her cage just looking at the laying bin all morning. I've got a towel over her cage to give her privacy. She never hangs out at the bottom of her cage, so I'm guessing something's up. It's now day 19. How often have you guys had your female "scope" out the laying bin before laying? Could this mean that she's going to lay in the next day or so or could it be up until day 28 and she's just checking things out?

Thanks everyone. :)

Going on day 28 and still nothing. I honestly can't tell 100% that she's gravid still. She looks bigger but shows regular colors sometimes and gravid others. She's been unreceptive to my male and gaped at him the past week. I've seen her pace the cage the last few days, but I'm not sure that it's any more than she normally does. She seems bigger but I can't tell by feeling if she has eggs. She was mated for almost an hour each time on the 21st and 23rd of last month. They were definitely successful looking matings, as I could see that they were stuck together.

Have any of you seen a female mate twice and not be gravid? I've heard of some laying on day 30, has anyone had them go past 30 days? Thanks all.
