Are these normal? They don’t seem to bother him but they don’t seem to go away?

Hello and welcome! if you are up to it, we do a husbandry review for your guy? It will help us know what's what and get the help your guy needs.

It might be good to find a vet. @MissSkittles @Beman what do you think?

Chameleon Info:

  • Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care?
  • Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon?
  • Feeding - What are you feeding your cham? What amount? What is the schedule? How are you gut-loading your feeders?
  • Supplements - What brand and type of calcium and vitamin products are you dusting your feeders with and what is the schedule?
  • Watering - What kind of watering technique do you use? How often and how long to you mist? Do you see your chameleon drinking?
  • Fecal Description - Briefly note colors and consistency from recent droppings. Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites?
  • History - Any previous information about your cham that might be useful to others when trying to help you.

Cage Info:

  • Cage Type - Describe your cage (Glass, Screen, Combo?) What are the dimensions?
  • Lighting - What brand, model, and types of lighting are you using? What is your daily lighting schedule?
  • Temperature - What temp range have you created (cage floor to basking spot)? Lowest overnight temp? How do you measure these temps?
  • Humidity - What are your humidity levels? How are you creating and maintaining these levels? What do you use to measure humidity?
  • Plants - Are you using live plants? If so, what kind?
  • Placement - Where is your cage located? Is it near any fans, air vents, or high traffic areas? At what height is the top of the cage relative to your room floor?

Hi and welcome. :) I’m not sure what areas you’re asking about. Is it where I circled in yellow? He has the same type spot on the other side in almost the exact spot, so I’m stumped. It doesn’t look like papilloma or anything which I have seen here before. Since it’s bilateral, that makes it seem that it’s not anything like a wart or fungal or other growth. The area circled in red - is that a raised area or a trick of the light? If it is raised, that one looks more like a papilloma than the other. @JacksJill @jannb @kinyonga all have more experience than I do and might know more.

Yes everywhere you circled! The one by his arm is the only one raised and looks gray around it. They don’t seem to bother him at all. The one in red is not raised! I can get better pictures later.

Chameleon Info:

  • Your Chameleon - Hello everyone! This is Rupurt. He is my lovely Nosy be panther chameleon. He is a male and he was born in July of 2022. I got him in January of 2023 at around 6-7 months.
  • Handling - I work 3 12s a week. On my days off I will see if he wants uppys or not. He often will crawl on me and I let him hangout by my window still. Other than that I’ve reduced feeding him to 3-4 times a week as when I fed him everyday he wasn’t eating a bunch. So I do about 5-10 crickets every other with occasional horn worms, wax worms, or black solider fly larvae.
  • Feeding - I gut load with carrots, and Repashy bug burger and I do use the orange flukers cricket quencher calcium fortified. I started using those in July due to the crickets dying rapidly.
  • Supplements - I only use Repashy Calcium plus with Vitamin D3 supplement because I got him from kammerflage. I messaged them personally about the calcium options and the different opinions people were saying about how to use and when. They informed me that THEY use it every feed and have been using it for their chameleons for over 2.5 years with two generations.
  • Watering - I have a misting system that goes off for two minutes at 2am, 6am,8am and 9pm. I also have a dripper and I do see him drink with that. I also have a fogger that goes off from like 2am to 7am as well.
  • Fecal Description - Medium brown poop, can look mucousy but always firm. White pee. Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites? Never been tested.
  • History - No history!
Cage Info:
IMG_6804.jpeg

  • Cage Type - 2x2x4 Zoomed cage. I’ve deep cleaned his cage probably three times this year.
  • Lighting - I have a 6% Arcadia T5 uvb 24w, 22 watt LED light by Arcadia as well for plants. For heat I am using 60w exp terra heat lamp. These are in from 630am to 630pm.
  • Temperature - On average his heat has been any where from 74-85basking temp. Depends on what season we are in too.
  • What temp range have you created (cage floor to basking spot)? It’s about 10 degrees below from the basking branch temp.
  • Lowest overnight temp? Depends on if our windows are open or not but lowest have been in the mid to high 60s
  • How do you measure these temps? I have a little Antonki thermometer and humidity monitor
  • Humidity - During the day, 30% to 40% and night there 60%-70%
  • How are you creating and maintaining these levels? I use misting and a fogger and I live in Florida so it’s always humid as well.
  • Plants - Use all live plants, I have a yucca plant, hibiscus, and an elephant ear plant and a pathos. I have noticed some white fuzzy bugs growing on my elephant ear plant so I’ll probably have to replace them all. He’s never eaten any of the plants.
  • Placement - Near a window at the end of my live room. We don’t normally have the fan on but if it were on his cage is on the outer parts of the living room so he could get some movement. Our fan for our air conditioning is basically always running or we have windows open.
  • Location - Florida
Current Problem- Gray wart like growths or spots on my chameleon. More photos. First time I’ve noticed a spot like this was probably 4-6months ago and it was only one at the time. Recently I feel like there’s more coming up. Thank you for helping in any way you can and all the information you guys share!

I’m not thrilled with the calcium plus supplement being used at every feeding, but that isn’t the cause of the bumps.
You feed crickets and I see the little white cup thing that I assume is what you put them in. Is it possible that a crickets or two may have escaped and bit your guy? I’m at a loss as to what else those bumps could be. They don’t have the appearance of papilloma at all.
I’m down in Brevard county and make the drive to Dr Bogoslavsky in Orlando when I have need. https://myavho.com/ He is very experienced and knowledgeable with chameleons and well worth the drive. Doing a quick search of the forum and Dr Rossi is said to be good and he’s much closer. https://riversidejaxvet.com/

I know I was scared about the calcium every feeding but that’s exactly what kammerflage told me they do and that’s where he is from. What would you recommend for panthers? I’ve seen Dr.Rossi is very close but he does have mixed reviews so I wasn’t sure! Thank you for telling me about the one in Orlando too!

Often with supplements, in order to get the same results, you need to be doing the exact same thing in every other way to get the same results. I know that Kammerflage uses the calcium plus, but I don’t know if their husbandry is the same as we all do. I assume so as they certainly are awesome and produce some gorgeous and healthy chameleons and I’ve never heard even one inkling of anything negative about them.
What most of us do is lightly dust with a phosphorus free calcium without D3 at every feeding except one every other week, in which we then use Repashy calcium plus LoD. The calcium plus is quite high in fat soluble vitamins - A and D3, which we use sparingly to prevent them from building up in the body and causing problems or toxicity.
It’s hard to go by reviews as one never knows the circumstances.

Okay I have all of those things so I’ll start transitioning to that supplement regimen!

Also you could be totally right about the crickets bitting him! I’ve never seen cricket bites but I know a few can escape from the bowel and be left in the cage!

@MissSkittles already helped you but just the 2 cents I know about why Kammerflage says to use repashy calcium plus everyday. They used T8 UVB fixtures instead of T5HO. When I reached out to them a few years ago they were still testing the T5HO with the repashy calcium plus everyday. I would imagine they will eventually update their recommendations based on the different UVB being provided.

We have seen issues of edema with this supplement being used daily and chameleons being under T5HO fixtures. So that is why we recommend the multivitamin only be used 2 times a month due to the high levels of fat soluble vitamin A and D3 in it.

Per the spots... The one really looks like it could be papiloma to me. Especially in those last pics you shared. You can see how it is raised there and the scales are not as they should be.
