Grumpy!

We've had our panther Chameleon for approx 3 months (he was around 7mths old). He was very friendly and liked to be handled which I know is unusual for a chameleon. He loves his set up, lots of vines to climb, real plants, right temp and uv however over the past 2 weeks he doesn't seem to want out his enclosure or to be handled. He mainly sits in his sleeping spot with his tail curled for most of the day (not sleeping). He's eating, drinking, going to the toilet and seems alert and bright. He hasn't shed since we got him so not sure if this is due to happen soon? I just don't want him to be unhappy, stressed or ill so looking for suggestions?

You can set up a free range area for him. I have a cat and dogs in my house .So I took some grape vine and suspended it about 8 in from the ceiling with some 20 lb fishing line. Then I wrapped some fake plastic vine around the grape vine.
Others use large house plants or indoor small nontoxic trees. I hope this helps

He will definitely be crabby before shedding, but I would expect that to last only a few days. If he's in his sleepy spot and not moving about, I think you should trust your gut that something might be "wrong". Have you had his droppings tested for parasites?

I'd keep a really close eye on him and see if anything changes. Offering him some free-range time is great advice - I also recommend getting him some sunshine and see if he perks up. Natural sunlight does amazing things biologically.

Keep an eye on his food and water intake and droppings. Loss of appetite or unusual fecals will be strong signs that he might be ill. He's so pretty...er, handsome!... I hope he perks up for you.
