Watering - I mist the chameleon around 3 times a day. He used to drink every morning.
Fecal Description -Fecal is normal. Darkish with the oozing clear liquid. It was tested for parasites a month ago. He had coccidia but it was treated right away.

Lighting - Reptisun UVB (tube). From 7am-7pm

Current Problem:

My chameleon had an infection in his mouth and stopped eating; I took him quickly to the vet. He removed the pus and prescribed him Baytril. He also told me to force feed him, because he was way too weak and had lost 2g in just a week; that was 20 days ago. I forced him to eat crickets and gave him the antibiotic as instructed. I saw him getting better over time. The infection is all gone now, but the last weekend I gave him crickets, to see if he would hunt them, and he tried really hard to hunt (like I've never seen him do before) but unfortunately he misses a lot with his tongue. I took him yesterday to another vet again but he only checked his eyes and told me it was not a sight problem... yet I could notice that this vet didn't know a lot of chams (he told me to give him smaller crickets in more qty so he could practice, that maybe he is rusty for not using his tongue for so long :s ). Also, Rango is always laying low on his cage, not like before that he was always on the highest vine, and I have noticed him awake at nights several times.

He has been eating daily, even with the difficulties, but I wanted to know if this is normal after the antibiotic or something. I used to have a good relationship with him but now he is afraid of me :( because I forced him the medicine for so long. And am still forcing him to drink water, because he wont drink by himself.

P.S. I noticed reading the forum that I am providing him more D3 than supposed. Will change that right away. Could that be the cause?

I have heard that an excess amount of D3 can cause MBD (Not 100% sure about that! Lets see what the experienced have to say), which might explain him missing with his tongue. It would be really helpful to upload a picture, although I would think the dentist would have noticed.

edit: Dentist? What the hell? I mean vet.

Hello, welcome to the forum, I never kept a Jacksons before, but I really want one.........you were giving too much d3, but I would check with someone else who has kept them what sort of vitamin schedule is best (I think it is easier to over supplement with Jacksons too). I can't really help much, maybe he is still recovering from his illness - I hope he feels better soon though
